The Horsham Demons and Minyip-Murtoa will lay it all on the line to decide who will be remembered as 2017’s best team.

Demons coach Louie Dalziel has spoken about his plan to get the club to his point ever since taking over the role in September last year. As he prepared to coach his final game he said everything had gone to plan so far.

“Everything is in place,” he said. “I think that was plain to see in the first quarter and a half at Warracknabeal. If we play like that for four quarters on Saturday I believe we are going to be very hard to beat.”

While some people might have questioned how his side ran out the semi-final against Minyip-Murtoa, Dalziel was not concerned.

“Fitness is never going to be an issue,” he said. “We’ve had a very tough and stringent running program in place right from the start. If we are going to be beaten it’s going to be by a better side.”

The success both clubs have enjoyed this season has been on the back of strong depth. Horsham have used 35 players while Minyip-Murtoa have managed to use just 27.

Burras coach Damian Cameron said for his side to be able to share the week leading into the grand final with the reserves meant there was at good atmosphere at the club.

“It’s massive I reckon,” he said. “I’ve been lucky enough to be there at the end of the year a few time and it’s a totally different feeling when you’ve only got 18 to 20 blokes there instead of 50.”

After some poor starts in finals Cameron knows there will be plenty of scrutiny placed his side’s first quarter on Saturday.

“I think it’s a concentration thing,” he said. “I can’t questions the intensity and intent of the guys heading into the games but the focus will have to be on what they are each doing with their time.

“You really don’t want to have to come from behind in a big game.”
