The traffic light has been absent from the busy intersection at the corner of Vincent and High streets for about six months.
The traffic light was removed after apparently being damaged by a vehicle.
A traffic cone has stood in place of the lights since then.
VicRoads acting regional director Mal Kersting said the traffic light would be replaced soon.
"We understand the importance of these traffic lights to the community,” he said.
"We've completed new underground works and expect to have the new traffic lights operational within the next month.”
VicRoads has engaged a contractor to replace the traffic light.
