Mid-week pennant had its first game on September 25.
Wimmera Bowls Division secretary Ken Dodds said the division had its opening day at Nhill on September 17.
“Four players from each club came together and we had a day in Nhill,” he said.
There is a slight change to the mid-week pennant competition for the 2017-18 season, transforming into an open division.
“It allows equal opportunity to women and men. We are seeing how it goes this year,” Dodds said.
The reason behind the change to an open division came via Bowls Victoria.
The lawn bowls body changed all mid-week competitions to open competitions.
“The board decided to see how it goes,” Dodds said.
“This will mean more people will have the opportunity to play.”
The 2016-17 season was hard-fought with Dimboola eventually taking out the pennant division.
Dodds said bowlers were looking forward to the season, which this year includes nine teams.
“Horsham Golf have their new green. They were playing all of their games at Horsham City last season,” he said.
“Now they have new facilities and they look great.”
All matches start at 1.30pm.
