The opening round is set for October 7.
The association’s president Kate-Lyn Perkin said the biggest difference this season was a B Special format change.
“Instead of three sets of nine games, we have changed it to four sets of six games,” she said.
Perkin said she hoped this encouraged young people to step up from juniors, new players to come and try the sport and older players to continue with the sport.
“Some players said shortening the sets would be easier,” she said.
The association is working on having at least one day during the season where every team from the individual clubs played at their home venue.
“We want to do this to help benefit the clubs,” she said.
Telangatuk East players will be unable to take their home courts in the 2017-18 season due to the peeling of the court surfaces, Perkin said.
Home games for Telangatuk East are at Central Park in Horsham.
“The association is working with the council to get them repaired,” she said.
“Quantong’s courts are just playable but look like they will need repairs in the near future.
“Brimpaen and Homers courts look like they will need repairs.”
Kalkee is gaining two new courts at the beginning of the season, which will mean pennant cannot play there during that time.
Perkin said the association had lost just one senior team while the juniors division had gained teams.
“The Homers have two junior teams this year. They have never had juniors before,” she said.
“The juniors are looking good.”
The association is trialling new and improved ideas, including giving teams and clubs the freedom to change when they played.
“We have opened it up. They can play anytime from 5pm Friday to Sunday,” she said.
“Previously, clubs have had to get permission from the association – but now if two clubs mutually agree, come to us and let us know what they are doing, they can play (at any time during that period).”
Haven has entered a team into the pennant division and Central Park has withdrawn its team.
“A lot of young Central Park players have moved to Haven. It will be good to see how a young Haven team goes,” Perkin said.
“We want to make this season as fun and social as possible. Somewhere people can go play some tennis and have a barbecue and a drink afterwards.”
All fixtures start at 1.30pm.
