The action-packed day had show-goers entertained from start to finish.
The showgrounds where divided into three main sections where every type of show-goer could find something of interest.
One side of the showgrounds had the air filled with rumbles of many tractors as the drivers competed in the tractor pull.
Meanwhile on the other side of the grounds the music was pumping and children were excited as they jumped up and down on the bouncy castle and tested their limits on the Hurricane ride.
A variety of animals kept children entertained throughout the day in the show’s animal nursery.
Throughout the showgrounds plenty of dogs could be found getting ready for the dog show.
Kaniva Agricultural Society president Amanda Munn said the success of the Kaniva Show this year was outstanding.
She said entries in the pavilion and competitions throughout the show were high.
“The pavilion entries were fantastic and we had plenty of dogs turn up for the dog show,” she said.
“It was great to see a lot of horses entered in today’s horse program and they are all at a great standard.
“We had 29 trucks arrive for the truck show and there were 40-plus tractors to participate in the tractor pull.”
Mrs Munn said it was the tractor pull competition’s inaugural year.
She said it was fantastic to see Kaniva College student Daniel Willersdorf take an interest in bringing the competition to the show this year.
The crowd started to grow larger by noon, with cars packed full of people eagerly waiting at the front gates to see what the show had in store for them.
Mrs Munn said it was great to see the community showing their support for the annual event.
“Each year we have a huge support for the community and our volunteers, which makes the show a great success,” she said.
Strawberries Galore vendor Kylie Makin said it was fantastic to see a steady stream of people out and about.
She said it was the perfect day for a show with the sun shining brightly.
“Everyone is loving our milkshakes and thickshakes. They are refreshing when out in the sun,” she said.
Show-goer Archie Dunstall said he came to the Kaniva Show to see his dad’s truck on display in the truck show.
He said the rides did not interest him and he was going to spend the day watching the trucks and tractors.
Show-goer Harrison White from Kaniva said he came to the show to see if he was successful in the poultry competition.
Harrison was awarded first prize for the largest hen.
He said he was really happy to win first prize and he was going to spend the rest of the day exploring the show.
“I am really looking forward to going on all the rides, especially the Hurricane,” he said.
Show-goer Keira Jewell from Kaniva said she attended the show to help at a Scouts stall selling lollies and vouchers.
She said after her shift she was excited about winning the showgirl competition and going on all the rides.
