The event for family and friends was also a chance for Ararat and District Cycling Club members to go for a ride with Hamilton before he leaves for China later this month for his last event as a Mitchelton Scott rider.
“It is nice to come back but and catch up with everyone in the one spot.
“It was super important to have something to thank everyone for their contribution to me getting to where I am.
“Everyone who is here is here for a reason and it is because they are a bit part of getting me to where I am now.
“So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for their support.”
The 21-year-old could have spent one more year in the under-23 system but moving up to the World Tour will fast track his development.
The Ararat product said it is a dream come true to reach the highest level in the sport.
“The more I think about it, the more surreal it feels,” he said.
“For me this is not the end game, I will just keep doing what i’m doing and hopefully achieve some of the goals I have.
“Orica Scott has proven they are a great team at developing young riders, a three-year deal gives me a bit more time to adapt and I am really happy to sign with them.”
Hamilton will likely to spend a similar amount of days racing but will be longer stints on the bike.
He said he is unsure how his body will hold up with the increased workloads but will work hard to prepare his body before each event.
“You always have little doubts here and there because you do not know what it is going to be like,” he said.
“But I am confident in the people around me, they are a great team and great atmosphere within the group.”
Hamilton will fly out to China on October 26 for his finals events of the season before returning in mid November.
He will then turn his focus to the 2018 World Tour season with appearances at the Australian Road National Championships in Ballarat and the Sun Tour in January scheduled to start the new year.
