The media industry is changing at a rapid rate as the habits of our readers evolve and change.
People want their news now – as it happens, where it happens – and they want it at their fingertips.
In fact, research tells us the media industry will experience a greater level of change than any other industry in the coming year.
That means that today, in line with these changing habits, the Mail-Times is more than just a newspaper. We have to be.
We are more connected, more collaborative and our work is more streamlined than ever before.
We are continuing to evolve our business to offer news and advertising in different ways – all in line with the wants and needs of a modern community.
But the core reason for our business remains the same as it has since the first newspapers rolled off the presses in the late 1800s.
The reason we’re here is simple. It’s all about community.
We are here to record, to celebrate and to entertain our community with the news of the day.
We campaign on behalf of our community and we never take for granted the privileged position we have to ask the hard questions on the most difficult of issues – without fear or favour.
Our team, headed by Wimmera-born leaders, lives locally and we are involved in our community.
The Mail-Times is proud to financially support 17 events and community groups across the region to the sum of $52,350 annually.
That doesn’t include the support we provide these events and community groups in the form of editorial coverage to promote the happenings in their space.
Additionally, a percentage of today’s newspaper sales will go towards a cause that will touch every single member of our community – the Wimmera Cancer Centre.
It’s part of our ongoing commitment to our community – the place we call home, the place we have a deep passion for, and the place that we serve every day.
