Event coordinator and Campbells Bridge resident Laura Nicholson said the annual event was a great opportunity for people who lived and possessed land in the area to get together on Friday, October 20. 

“We have this event every year before harvest and it is great for everyone involved and this year should be no different,” she said. 

“We are lucky to have such great community support and to have shops and businesses from the district donating gifts.”

Ms Nicholson said only a small committee of neighbours were maintaining the town hall. 

“It is important we keep this hall up and running- it is key for so many events in our town,” she said. 

She said there will be a raffle and fancy dress activities for children.

Campbells Bridge Progress Association and town resident Ian Hyslop said proceeds from the night will also go towards the operational and insurance costs of the town’s fire truck. 

“It is a very handy truck to have in the area,” he said. 

“It was bought about 40 years ago and the reason why the Association decided to purchase it was because we really needed a fire truck close to our town.

“Callawadda was 10 kilometres away, Glenorchy was 10km away and Stawell was 15km away- so it was important that we got a firetruck for our town that we could rely on. 

“We have no funds from the government because the truck is privately owned- so it would be great to get some fundraising to help keep this truck up and running.”
