There is still time for juniors to put their name down ahead of the upcoming competition and there will be an opportunity for new player to come and try beforehand.
Club development officer Launa Schilling said she hoped the competition would attract players that tried the game during the recent holiday program.
“It’s off-season for all the winter sports and squash is great way for juniors to keep active when they aren’t playing anything else,” she said.
“The sport is also really great for hand-eye coordination.”
Juniors are invited to come and try as well as register from 5.30-6.30pm on Wednesday October 25 before the competition starts the following Tuesday.
“It is important for new player to try and attend the come and try day so we can grade them appropriately,” Schilling said.
“We have players as young five taking part and as old as 16; we can adjust the rules, equipment and court size so that anyone can join in.

“Some people think because squash is so fast players need to be that little bit older but we will work to accommodate them.”
The competition will be held each Tuesday over a period of five weeks before finals on December 5.
The club is also inviting women down for another edition of its hit and giggles program that is set to start on November 9.
Hour-long classes for beginners and intermediates will run parallel to each other from 7-8pm over a six-week program.
It will be the fourth times the club has run the programs which is designed to boost the participation of women in sport.
“A lot of of women stop playing sport for a variety of reasons and we want to help encourage them to enjoy an active lifestyle,” Schilling said. “It’s all done in a great social atmosphere and lots of the ladies really enjoy it and come back.
“And once again we can adjust what we do depending on what players we have.”
While the hit and giggles program targets women, Schilling said any men keen to pick the sport up could also contact the club.
“We can gauge the interest level and possibly look at running something social for the guys as well in the future,” she said.
“If anyone wants to have a social hit or join any of the competitions they can feel free to contact the club because we are always welcoming of new members.”
The club can be contacted via its Facebook page by searching for Horsham Squash Club or by emailing horshamsquashclub@hotmail.com. Contact Schilling on 0408 451 762 about the hits and giggles program or junior competition or June Liddy on 5382 2811.
