The club hosted a design your own lure day at the Horsham Soundshell on Saturday and Shields said it was well received.
“It was fantastic. We had a lot of young kids not from the club there,” he said.
“They were happy and cheerful.”
The club had 56 children attend the design your own lure day.
Shields said he couldn’t have picked a better day for the Gone Fishing Day on Sunday.
“We had a lot of families scattered around, it was like a big social,” he said.
The day was hosted at the Police Paddock in Horsham.
“There was a lot of little trout caught and a nice redfin caught by young Jayke Grieg,” Shields said.
“A lot of young families came along, a lot of people are now interested in joining the club.
“We gave all the prizes to young kids, we gave away a blow up dingy and six to seven rods.”
Shiels said it was a day to have fun and get outside.
