Scott Carey and Courtney Morrow will return as the head coaches of the Baggies’ senior football and A Grade netball teams respectively.
Both coaches experienced varying levels of success during 2017.
Carey was able to lead Swifts to the finals for the first time in his tenure, while Morrow was crucial in the Baggies’ return to A Grade competition, winning four games.
Swifts president Steve Hoffman said he is happy to be keeping Carey and Morrow on board.
“Everyone headed in the right direction this year, so we hope the coaches can keep building on that,” he said.
Carey said he is looking forward to his third season in charge.
“It is exciting to be able to take the helm again,” he said.
“It is a big job but the people and players I have got around make it a lot easier.”
Carey said while it is still very far out from next season he has some goals in mind already. “We want to make sure we improve on the field as a team but also off the field as a club,” he said.
“We made big inroads this year so we want to make sure we don’t take any steps backwards and push the group forward.”
Andrew Cameron also returns in 2018 as Carey’s assistant coach.
“It is great to take this role on with him again,” Carey said.
Nick Clarke returns as Swifts’ reserves coach while Paul Boag will replace premiership coach Tim Chatfield as the under-17 coach who has left the club.
Hoffman said he is thankful for the work Chatfield has done for the club.
“After three years of service the club would like to thank Tim for his services and wish him all the best for the future,” he said.
Damon Folkes will take charge of the under-14 football team. Caitlin Thomas will coach the B Grade team with the assistance of Kristy McEvoy. Erin Freeland (under-17’s), Amanda McLeod (under 15’s) and Briana Close (under 13’s) will coach Swifts’ junior netball sides.
The Baggies footballers will return to training on November 27 and will train on Tuesday and Thursday nights until Christmas.
