Northfest co-ordinator Janine Harfield said she expected the festival to attract large crowds with the sun out and shining.
The first 200 children through the gates were eager to receive their free show bag.
Ms Harfield said many spot prizes and five major prizes were awarded on the day.
The rides proved to be a favourite amongst children and live bands entertained festival-goers all day.
As part of the legacy project a park bench fashioned out of skateboards was left behind. The bench featured artwork from Holy Trinity Lutheran School and Horsham College students.
