The closest game of the round this week was a 10 shot win by Dimboola 1 over Kaniva 1 at Dimboola. A 30-17 victory by Ron Gaulke, Merv Roberts, Wayne Albrecht and Alan Krahe (s) was important in the final margin. All other matches were clean sweeps with the winners winning all four rinks. The biggest wins were by Horsham Golf skip Gavin Walter (36-12) in a 47 shot defeat of Edenhope 1, along with Graeme Lynch (35-10) in Nhill 2’s 49 shot win over Coughlin Park 2. Sunnyside 1 had a 42 shot win over Coughlin Park 1, with all rinks contributing well.

In Division 2, Sunnyside 2 and Dimboola 2 won 2 rinks each with Sunnyside taking the points by 19 shots. Ross Barnett, Barry Brooksby, Brendan Lloyd and John Brown (s) had a 32-17 win to ensure the triumph. An 18 shot margin by Robert Cook, George Bennett, Ken Dodds and Jeff Fritsch (s) spearheaded a 23 shot win for Nhill 2 over Goroke. Horsham City 2 had a 37 shot success over top side Natimuk. Rinks led by Hux Mitchell, Trevor Hamilton and Stewart Landwehr all had good wins.
Only two games were played this week in Division 3. Sunnyside 4 teamed well to defeat Horsham Golf 2 by 14 shots. Nhill 3 made it 6 wins in a row by beating Horsham City 4 by 32 shots.
In Midweek Pennant, Kaniva 1 returned to their winning ways and beat Nhill by 39 shots. Linda Williams, Wilma Kidman, Maree van Kempen and Janet Kuchel (s) won 38-16 in the victory. Sunnyside 1 had an important 41 shot win over Dimboola to keep in touch with the top four. Geoff Inglis and Sandra Knight had good wins in a 32 shot Horsham City 1 defeat of Coughlin Park 1.
In Division 2, Serviceton remains on top and undefeated after accounting for Edenhope by 34 shots. A 37-9 score by Bev Brown, Alan Miles, Bev Makin and Kathie Thomson (s) formed a big part of the margin. Natimuk won both rinks in beating Horsham City 2 by 23 shots. Sunnyside 2 and Goroke won a rink each with Goroke getting the points by 5 shots.
This week there is no pennant to be played due to the Vic Open. The annual Legacy tournament will take place on Saturday at Sunnyside instead. This is an important event to help support Legatees Wimmera-wide.
Round Robin
Wimmera could only manage one victory in the Region Round Robin held at Ararat on Sunday. Homeside Grampians won all their games and took out the trophy for best-performed division. North Wimmera were in second place, followed by Wimmera and North Central.
Round 1: North Wimmera 58 defeated North Central 51, Grampians 80 defeated Wimmera 50. Round 2: Wimmera 42 defeated North Central 41, Grampians 41 defeated North Wimmera 39. Round 3: Grampians 57 defeated North Central 41, North Wimmera 48 defeated Wimmera 34.
Region selectors also picked a 16-man squad to represent the Wimmera region against Murray Mallee in Wycheproof. The following players made the team:
