The side could not match Gippsland Pride at Merv Hughes oval in the first round of the Victorian Country Cricket League under-21 championships.
Landwehr said it was just one of those days where things went his way as he claimed 5-57 off his ten overs.
“I got a few wickets late in the tail when they were going after me,” he said.
“I wasn’t swinging the ball at all so I just focused on bowling consistently.”
The Gippsland side won the toss and decided to bat first. That decision had a big impact on the game according to Western Waves president Kelvin White.
“Its difficult to chase scores down in some of these games,” he said.
“Gippsland got off to a quick start and we had to bring Eddie on earlier than we would have liked to slow them down, which he did for a bit.
“Their score of 194 was still gettable but we didn’t build the partnerships we required to win.”
Sam Leith managed to score 16 batting at number six.
“I hadn’t seen him bat before and was surprised when he hit a six because I thought he was a natural opener,” White said.
The Waves side was dismissed for 141 in the 47th over.
Landwehr and Leith will not be available when the Waves take on Barwon in the second round of the championships on Sunday.
“It’s great that they were able to get the taste at this level,” White said.
“We don’t normally have a lot of representation in the Waves sides from the northern part of the region but hopefully this is the start of more players being involved more regularly.”
