She was officially appointed as the coach at the club’s general meeting and previously shared the role with in 2015. She said she was excited by the prospect of leading again.
“We were really struggling with numbers and depth at that time so I’m really looking forward to doing it now that we are able to field three senior sides,” she said.
Beer said she will look to build on the foundations laid by 2017 coach Tarrah Dodds.
“Tarrah will be staying on as a player,” she said. “Her and Emma Hawker are such a great combination down there in defence.”
The side finished the 2017 season in seventh place with just four wins to its name but showed significant signs of improvement throughout the season. Beer said the team would continue to bond in order to improve.
“We were a whole new team this year and we were quite unlucky with a few injuries,” she said. “We are looking to retain our whole list from last season and are in talks with some recruits that we are hoping to get to our club soon as well.”
Julie Colbert will continue as Beer’s assistant coach.
“Julie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as well,” Beer said.
