The show, which closed at the Horsham Town Hall earlier this month, received 12 nominations in the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria awards.
Nominations included production of the year, as well as nods for direction, lighting, wardrobe, sets and program design.
The entire cast was nominated in the ensemble performance category, while Brady King was nominated for best male performer in a leading role and Brian Harrison was nominated for best male performer in a supporting role.
Producer Jess Wilson said it was the first time ever a Horsham Arts Council production had been nominated for this many guild awards.
“We usually get three or four, but definitely not 12,” she said. “We are absolutely rapt, it was such a shock.”
The cast will also perform at the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria award ceremony on December 9.
“We were asked to perform a few weeks ago before the nominations came out, so we figured we would be nominated for something,” Mrs Wilson said.
She said the cast and crew had worked really hard on the show all year.
“Rent is a small cast, but we had a stellar team and I think our closeness added to our final performance,” she said.
“We knew it was a good show, but these nominations validate what we’ve done.
“The standard of the guild awards are amazing too, so it means we are up there.”
