Junior golf co-ordinator Rebecca McIntrye said the club had increased its focus on junior golf this year.
“We have been hosting golf clinics at schools and the four-week MyGolf program over the past few months,” she said. “Now those have fed into doing the junior tournament.
“It’s the first one we’ve had in a few years.”
Mrs McIntrye said the tournament focus was on enjoyment and involvement.
“It’s all about participation and getting kids out there,” she said. “For us it’s all about getting the kids to enjoy the course we have.
“We want them to learn the game and the etiquette and all those things you have on the course.”
Mrs McIntrye hopes the tournament will increase the amount of juniors playing at Horsham Golf Club.
“We haven’t had many juniors as members, so it’s important for the club to increase its junior program,” she said.
“We are going to try to do these tournaments at least once a month to get these kids out on the course.”
The tournament will start at 9am on Sunday, with all skill levels welcomed.
Mrs McIntyre said entrants could expect to learn plenty of golf-related knowledge.
“We welcome any skill level – it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a golf club,” she said.
“There will be three different sections – beginners and little kids, then the intermediate kids, and then the advanced group.
For us it’s all about getting the kids to enjoy the course we have.

“We are going to have a few games and some prizes for the kids. There will be a barbecue afterwards.”
Mrs McIntyre hopes to see about 20 juniors participate in the tournament.
She said children as young as four would be involved.
“We have had a few four and five-year-olds playing golf this year, which is really exciting,” she said.
Mrs McIntrye urged families with an interest in golf to embrace the tournament.
“Anyone who wants to come out and have a hit can,” she said. “It is a great sport and we really want to draw some attention to golf in our community. All the kids who have been out there this year have thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully we can get some support and look to do it regularly.”
Mrs McIntyre said people could register for the tournament on the day.
