More than eight million gifts have been collected across Australia via the appeal across the past 29 years.
The appeal runs in conjunction with the Salvation Army and all gifts go to the Salvation Army where they are distributed accordingly.
Kmart Horsham store manager Suzanne Puls said she had worked at the store since it opened in Horsham – and Christmas time always brought her great joy.
“For us (the appeal) means that we get presents and give them to people who are less fortunate and who may not be able to afford them,” she said.
“Presents are donated for all ages – from children up to grandparents.”
Miss Puls said donations were welcome from places other than Kmart.
“We also have the facilities where they can donate cash and you can also go online and donate money,” Miss Puls said.
Kmart Horsham celebrated the 30-year milestone with Wimmera Voices singing and the Salvation Army band performing on November 15.
Miss Puls said the appeal was an opportunity for the community to help others.
“I think it is a good chance to give to people who are in need and it’s great to see the Christmas spirit around the town,” she said.
Miss Puls said people wanting to donate gifts could visit the Horsham Kmart store or visit www.kmart.com.au/wishingtree to make a donation.
