The match is the first of three games that will be completed under lights at the association’s premier cricket ground over the next three rounds. Each team will get an opportunity to play in a twilight fixture in the final three preliminary rounds of the one day competition.
Blackheath-Dimboola will need to put up a better showing than they did a fortnight ago in their rain-effected match against Homers.
The ladder leaders scored over 400 within their 45 overs before bowling out Blackheath-Dimboola for 104.
Homers co-captain Jarred Combe said he expected a better performance from his opponents at the weekend.
“They’ll probably have a few blokes back in so we expect that Saturday will be much closer,” he said. “I don’t think the time of the game will effect it much except for a bit of time where the lights haven’t properly kicked and it’s in-between natural and artificial light.”
Combe said the club was excited to bring in Reuben Elliot, Jett Hopper and Patty Mills in for the match.
“All three of them have played under-14s, under-16s and C Grade already this season,” he said. “They’re the future of the club and they are all really keen to have a go in A grade so its a good place for the club to be. We’ll look to continue promoting young players for the rest of the season so its not just a one off.”
The experienced Chris Hopper will also return.
Laharum will host Rup-Minyip in a game that could go a long way to determining who will play in the one day grand final in March.
The two teams sit level on 18 points each with three one-day rounds remaining.
The side are expected to boast similar sides to the ones that took to the field in round seven. Travis Hair and Brent Hudson will be key for the Blue Panthers while Ben Peucker and Josh Mahoney will play pivotal roles for Laharum.
Jung Tigers and the Horsham Saints will come face to face at Dimboola Road Oval after a decision was made to move the game from Coughlin Park.
The sides are both expected to be vastly different to when corresponding round seven clash.
Josh Carroll, Zac Hamerston and Corey Smith are all set to miss the clash for the Saints with decisions set to be left late as to who comes in to replace the trio.
The Tigers will be without their captain Tyley Neville and Jake McLean.
The pair will be replaced by Pat Laffy and Kiata young gun Josh Lees.
