Horsham and District Racing Club manager Lisa Inkster said there would be many attractions on offer to keep children and families busy throughout the day.
“It’s a day geared up for children and the kids just love it,” she said.
“We have plenty of prizes for different activities on the day.
“We have activities running all afternoon. We have foot races, which are great as the kids love getting out on the track.
“We have live music in the afternoon, plenty of food vendors on course and everything else that goes on at the races.”
Mrs Inkster said there would also be a very special guest making an appearance at some point during the day.
“We will of course be expecting a visit from Santa during the afternoon,” she said.
There will also be a fashions on the field event sponsored by Horsham’s Cheeky Fox Cafe, also aimed towards families.
When it comes to the racing, Mrs Inkster said race five would be one of the ones to watch.
“That’s the highest class race for the day and there is definitely some local interest in that,” she said.
Wimmera trainers will battle it out for the $20,000 in prize money.
“We have Paul Preusker and Holly McKechnie – our local trainer and jockey partnership – who have a horse nominated in that race,” Mrs Inkster said.
“We also have Stawell trainers Terry and Karina O'Sullivan, as well as Dane Smith with horses in race five.”
Horsham and District Racing Club president Jason Merlo said the day would not be possible without the effort of the club’s committee and its volunteers.
“We’d like to thank the committee for the tireless work they go through for getting everything ready for the day,” he said.
Gates will open at 10am, with the first race starting at 11.58am. The final race of the day will start at 3.20pm, which will see Preusker and McKechnie team up again.
