It was the cadet units final parade night.
The cadet unit officer in command, captain Aaron Croft, said this year they decided to do something different for the break-up.
“We have been developing a bit of a relationship with 128 transport in Horsham. They came to Stawell, picked us up and took us to Horsham for a barbecue and the cadets had a tour around the barracks,” he said.
“It was a bit of a fun thing to do on the last night.”
Captain Croft said the cadets enjoyed the time in Horsham. He said they wanted to do join the two groups more often.
“We’re looking at negotiating to get Horsham as our foster unit,” he said.
Captain Croft said the cadets have one final activity for 2017, when they would march in the Stawell Christmas parade on Friday night.
“They will walk down the street in their bush gear,” he said.
