The session was set to run at Horsham College Oval from 6pm on Monday, December 18, but a forecast top of 41 degrees in Horsham have caused the session to be postponed.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee football development manager Jason Muldoon said under the AFL Victoria heat policy there was no other option than to cancel the session.
“Our first priority is the welfare and safety of players and with that forecast temperature it is a no brainer to cancel the session,” he said.
“The AFL Victoria heat policy suggests we don’t train so we are bound by that a bit. Even if we did go out there it would be to hot to be able to do anything anyway.”
Next Monday’s session was created after the booming success of the first training hit-out earlier this week.
25 women from throughout the region came together to train for the first time, with another nine registering their interest but unable to attend.

The number of interested players jumped from 33 to 40 during the week.
Muldoon said it was “disappointing” to have to cancel the session after last week’s success.
“We were gathering some great momentum which makes the fact we can’t train even more disappointing,” he said.
“We definitely didn’t take cancelling it lightly, but from the responses of the ladies I have talked to they agree it was the right decision.”
A second training session is set to run in mid-January next year, with details to be confirmed at a later date.
