With temperatures of 37 degrees forecast for Ararat and 33 degrees expected in the Melbourne CBD, V/Line has enacted its speed restrictions.
The restrictions are expected to be in place between 12pm and 8pm.
Trains from Southern Cross will terminate at Wendouree and coaches will then be used.
When the temperature hits 36 degrees, V/Line trains slow down because steel tracks expand in the heat.
On these hot days, trains that travel up to 160km/h need to slow down to 90km/h or less.
There is also a chance tomorrow’s train services could be affected, with another hot day forecast.
However, V/Line is yet to formally announce anything as yet.
