Police have charged a Corrective Services employee with allegedly smuggling contraband into a correctional facility at Cessnock.

On Monday, December 18, a drug dog operation was being conducted at the facility.
Police allege the dog detected drugs that were located in a wallet belonging to a 29-year-old employee.
The man was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station and interviewed.
Police will further allege the man brought various types of contraband into the facility in exchange for cash on at least 10 different occasions this year.
The man has been charged with two counts of agent corruptly receive benefit, bring drugs into place of detention and two counts of unlawfully deliver or attempt to deliver anything to inmate.
The officer has been suspended from duty.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Cessnock Local Court on January 24, 2018.
