The Darren Weir trained Stellar Collision was poorly backed, but Yendall rode the horse to a memorable victory in race seven.
Stellar Collision, who has now won seven from 20 starts, was at $26 to win the race.
Yendall sat the horse just behind the highly fancied Oak Door for much of the race.
Stellar Collision was in fourth position with 400m to go and with 200m left in the race, Yendall made his move.
Stellar Collision edged Oak Door at the finish line to provide Yendall with a memorable Boxing Day win and the $72,000 prize money.
Last year’s winner Lucky Liberty finished in third.
Meanwhile, Damien Oliver had a stellar day of racing.
He claimed four placings with two wins, included taking out one of the highlights of the day, the Lord Stakes, on Payroll.
