A man who was recorded by police driving 235 km/h in Central Victoria was later arrested with three children in the back seat of the car.
The 28-year-old man from Lethbridge, near Geelong, was detected driving erratically in a black Holden Commodore at speeds of more double the legal limit on the Calder Freeway between Bridge Water and Marong about 4pm on Tuesday. Police arrested the man at a car wash on Eaglehawk Road in Ironbark shortly before 5.30pm.
Three children under the age of seven, one of whom was not wearing a seatbelt, were inside the car at the time of his arrest, police confirmed.
There was also a woman in the passenger seat.
It is not known whether the children were in the vehicle earlier that day when the driver was recorded speeding.
The car was impounded and the man is expected to be charged on summons with reckless conduct endangering life, exceed speed and other traffic related offences.
