Taskforce members, along with others in the community, will participate in FebFast next month.

Taskforce co-ordinator said the FebFast campaign encouraged people to give something up for the month of February and raise money for disadvantage youth in the process.

“Originally people were asked to abstain from alcohol for the month but as the years have progressed new and different challenges have been added to the list,” she said.

“In 2018 suggested challenges include giving up alcohol, sugar, inactivity, and meat – you can really give up anything for the month.”

Ms Pymer said in the past, Wimmera residents had given up things such as alcohol, coffee, sugar and social media, which was an interesting experience.

“Members will be involved again this year,” she said.

“Past participants have noticed benefits to their health in abstaining from something for the month.

“Some have even continued to abstain for up to two years when that was not the original plan.”

Ms Pymer encouraged other people to get involved.

“People should give FebFast a go and try tackling an unhealthy habit,” she said.
