NBN representatives will visit Horsham, Warracknabeal and Ararat on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the network’s rollout and what residents and business owners should consider before signing up to a network plan.

NBN local Victoria and Tasmania manager Ebony Aitken said people could try the network’s SkyMuster satellite service via the Sky Muster truck.

The custom-made vehicle carries a portable satellite antenna, and allows people to try the network via a Wi-Fi hotspot connection.

Ms Aitken said the community sessions were part of the company’s commitment to improving customer experiences in regional and remote Australia.

“The rollout of the NBN access network is one of the biggest transformations to Australia’s telecommunications industry to ever occur,” she said.

“We are committed to providing answers to the questions residents and businesses want to know about the network, and the factors which influence the speed of their internet service.

“We encourage members of the community to attend and ask any questions they might have.

“Although retail service providers should always be the first point of contact for any resident or business, the NBN local team is dedicated to working with stakeholders to help ensure local problems are identified early and addressed.”

The Ararat information session will be in the Ritchies IGA carpark in Vincent Street on Wednesday from 9am to noon.

A session at the corner of Firebrace Street and Roberts Avenue in Horsham will follow from 2pm to 4pm.

Warracknabeal’s session the following day will be at the town’s tourist information centre from 9am to noon.

The network rollout is continuing in the region, with construction underway in Warracknabeal, Nhill, Stawell and St Arnaud.

These areas will be able to order an NBN plan with their phone or internet provider by the middle of the year.

Construction is due to start in Edenhope and Ararat within the next few months, with services available from September.
