The team has been training for the last two weeks with the side lifting the intensity this week heading into the round 12 fixture.
“We’ve been training for the last couple weeks, we had a good catch up and got into it officially this week. It was a solid hit-out,” he said.
“We have been getting our hands back on the ball again and getting a good training session before the game.
“We are looking forward to getting back into it.”
The Hornets were last in action in December against the Castlemaine Cannons, coming away with a tough win.
They’re tough and scrappy and we have to be at our best.
- Cam Bruce
Bruce said Kyneton would pose a new set of challenges to the Hornets side.
“They’re an interesting team,” he said.
“Last time we played them we were missing a few players. They’re a new squad and getting their basketball program up from nothing. They’re tough and scrappy and we have to be at our best.”
The Hornets will be without Matt Lloyd for the rest of the year after he broke his foot during the summer break.
Despite the side sitting top of the North West conference, Bruce said it was too early to be discussing finals prospects. He said the team would be focusing on making sure their game plans will hold up come the end of the season.
“Obviously we want to be playing our best basketball heading into finals,” he said.
“We will want to have everyone fit and firing and have our game plans ready to go.”
