Jack Hatcher and Daniel Simpson join Justin Beugelaar and Sam Godden as the club’s latest recruits who will travel from the top end of the top end to play each week.
Roos president Col Campbell said the pair of 23-year-olds both came through the NT Thunder program as juniors.
“They are both similar flanker and midfield type players,” he said. “The club is very excited to have them on board.”
Campbell said it was good for the club to continue recruiting players that have played alongside one another.
“These two, Jare (Krnjic), Justin and Jayden Clayfield have all played footy together for the Waratahs,” he said.
“Although they are from up North it still gives us a bit of continuity and cohesion because they know a bit more about how each other plays.”
Hatcher will play more of an in-and-under role through the Roos midfield while Simpson is considered a classy player at home on the wing or a flank.
Campbell said his club continued to recruit in an effort to bolster its experience.
“They’ve all played at a reasonably high standard of footy so to bring that experience is certainly good,” he said.
“We’ve still got a little bit going on but nothing is set in stone.
“We’re definitely still trying to add to our list and we’d like to think we’d be able to add a couple more senior and reserves footballers.
“The more we have the better to try and keep the club going.”
Dimboola’s footballers were back on the track for the first time this year on Friday evening.
Twenty players took part in the training run and Campbell said he was encouraged by what he saw.
“It was a good session before we had a barbecue and a couple of soft drinks afterwards while we watched the cricket,” he said.
“It was a good start to get back into it. Now we are going to be on the track on Tuesday and Thursday nights as well as Saturday mornings for the next eight weeks or so.”
Dimboola’s senior side has not played finals since winning the Wimmera Football League premiership in 2013.
Campbell is positive that things are looking up for his club after two straight wooden spoons.
“We’ve got these guys on board and if we can get a couple more in the next couple of week we should be well on the way to moving up the ladder,” he said.
