A bus took more than 25 children and their parents from Horsham Lawn to Melbourne for the day, while there was plenty of interest from the Goroke juniors in taking part in the big day.
A lot of fun was had, with the youngsters getting a slice of what it is like to be a professional tennis player.
President of Horsham Lawn Andrew Dorman said it was great for children in the club to come together for the day.
“They watched plenty of tennis with their parents and there were activities on all day,” he said.
“It was a great chance for the club to get together and for the parents to do this with the children.
“The children were really excited and tired by the end of the day, the heat wore them out a bit. There were lots of sleepy heads on the bus home.”
Local tennis clubs have been lucky this year in attending the grand slam, with Haven juniors heading along to the first day of the Australian Open on January 15.
