Horsham junior coordinator Tony Sleep said that everyone was very happy overall with how the teams had performed at the Bendigo tournament.
“It’s a really competitive tournament and we get to see sides from outside our region that we wouldn’t always see until state champs,” he said.
The association’s under-16 boys and girls sides excelled to make it to the grand finals in their divisions but there was plenty of positive signs from the other five teams as well.
“Obviously we are very pleased for both of our under 16 boys and girls teams for their results in finals but all of our teams did their best and from all reports learned a lot,” Sleep said.
“This becomes vitally important as our division one teams prepare for their state championships across the next three months.
“For our development sides it was another great opportunity for our athletes to get exposure to some quality basketball and test themselves at the next level.”
The under-14 girls side won two of its five games while.
The Hornets White side managed one win and one draw from its four games while the two under-14 boys team could manage a win.
The Horsham Hornets Blue side competing in the under-12 girls did not manage a win, and it was the same result for the boys under-12 side.
The next challenge for the squads will be when they travel to Naracoorte at the end of February.
