Twelve ladies from the Wimmera Division travelled to Stawell on Sunday to compete for the Wimmera Bowls Region ladies round-robin trophy.

The Wimmera team consisted of Maree van Kempen (Kaniva), Nola Wade (Coughlin Park), Di Maddern (Kaniva) and Loma Wallis (Serviceton).
Betty Cozens (Horsham City), Annie Osborn (Edenhope), Mavis Janetzki (Sunnyside) and Shirley Schorback (Coughlin Park).
Sue Lyttle (Sunnyside), Jodie Maddern (Kaniva), Bev Makin (Serviceton) and Lorraine Ross (Dimboola).
In game one, Wimmera played the Grampians. Skippers Schorback (11-3) and Wallis (13-4) both had good wins. Ross’ rink went down by one shot. Wimmera had a 33-17 overall victory.
North Central was the opponent in game two. Wallis’ rink again had a good game to get up 17-6. The other games were much tighter, with Ross having a draw and Schorback going down by one shot. Wimmera had a 10 shot win.
The closest game of the day was a three-shot win by Wimmera over North Wimmera in round three. Ross and her team managed a 12-8 win. This time it was the turn of Schorback to tie and Wallis went down by one shot. Three wins in three games saw the Wimmera ladies named the winners.
