1. THE GRAMPIANS
Active
There are many different walks to explore, for all different abilities – and depending on your luck, you might even find the two of you have the track to yourself! Pack plenty of water and work up a sweat exploring the Grampians with your loved one.
We recommend: Tackling the Pinnacle together, or enjoying a stroll up to the Balconies. The perfect place to watch the sun go down.
Relaxing
Halls Gap is a beautiful little town. Book a cabin for a few nights, or simply enjoy a day trip to enjoy all it has to offer. Relax and listen to the sounds of nature, while spotting kangaroos and other wildlife nearby.
We recommend: Driving up to Boroka Lookout to check out the view. And you can never leave Halls Gap without getting an ice-cream. It’s a romantic treat to enjoy together.
2. LAKES
Active
Get the boat ready and prepare for a day of water-skiing, wakeboarding or just snuggling up on the tube together.
We recommend: Doing this as a double-date – a safer option. Also, check the weather before you go out!
Relaxing
Drive out to one of the many lakes in our region and enjoy the sunset over the water. Is there anything as romantic?
We recommend: Fish and chips at sunset. A delicious and easy option at many of our lakes. Make sure you have a rug to wrap around the two of you – it can get cold at night!
3. MT ARAPILES
Active
Get your Spiderman on and start scaling the mountain! There are climbs for all levels of abilities. Nothing quite like the exhilaration of climbing or abseiling, with your loved one nearby.
We recommend: Making sure you’ve got a skilled and qualified instructor on-hand to help if you’ve never tried climbing before. Learn a new skill with your partner and stay safe at the same time. Debrief on the experience together later, when you’re enjoying fish and chips at Nati Lake.
Relaxing
Prefer to keep your breath? Drive to see the best views, with only a short amount of walking required.
We recommend: Returning to the ground and enjoying a barbecue lunch or tea close to nature. Pack your own meat, bread and salads ahead of time and dig in – just make sure you follow any fire bans.
4. WIMMERA RIVER
Active
It’s time to get canoeing, swimming, fishing, water-skiing… whatever you want, as long as it involves the water!
We recommend: Kayaking along the river and enjoying the time to chill out and catch up on each other’s lives. If you’re keen for extra adventure, camp a few nights at Horseshoe Bend or Ackle Bend near Dimboola.
Relaxing
Hold hands and stroll along the river. It’s time to appreciate how beautiful it is with some water in it.
We recommend: Covering yourself in mozzie repellent before hitting the river walking tracks at night. You’ll thank us for it later!
5. PARKS
Active
Really, this is all up to you. If you’ve got a dog, take it for a run (where allowed). Otherwise, start up a one-on-one game of footy, tennis or another sport.
We recommend: Double-dating for this one, too. There’s nothing like being on a team together to bring people closer. It’s you two against the world – or at least against the other couple!
Relaxing
Again, this is an easy one. Lie down on a picnic rug and enjoy each other’s company, go for a walk, pack a picnic – whatever you like. Choose an area of the park away from other people and you’ll forget there is anyone else in the world.
We recommend: A sunny stroll through the Horsham Botanic Gardens. Consider these flowers for Valentine’s Day that you can enjoy all year around.
