“Anything we can get set up, like boxes and ribbons, anything we can do in advance to save a bit of time on the day – we do,” Ms McQueen said.
Ms Harrison said the whole team was making sure the shop would be ready to sell out today.
“We’re getting all the flowers unpacked and into water so they have a good drink. It’s the biggest single day of the year for us,” she said.
“We want to sell out, obviously, but there will be something for everybody.”
On display this year will be special bunches of rainbow roses.
Ms McQueen said: “The rainbow roses are very popular. They’ve come from Colombia and have all been individually dyed.”
Meanwhile, for one Wimmera couple, a grand romantic gesture has come ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Shannon Reinheimer and Dalton Cross were engaged at the weekend after an extravagant proposal.
Mr Cross draped signs around the necks of his three dogs.
The signs spelled out the sentence: “Will you marry me?”
Ms Reinheimer said it was a fitting way for her partner to propose.
“We are very much animal lovers and we share our passion for animals. It was perfect the way he involved the dogs with the signs,” she said. “Dalton knows I love my dogs as much as I love him.”
The couple has been together for two years and Ms Reinheimer expected a low-key Valentine’s Day after the weekend’s proposal.
“I’ve always known Dalton growing up because he was one of my sister’s close friends through school,” Ms Reinheimer said.
“We don’t have plans for Valentine’s Day at this stage, unless Dalton has another surprise up his sleeve.
“He is always giving me surprises – whether that’s birthday, Christmas or anniversary gifts. I’m always guaranteed a new pet as a gift.”
