The side was one of three teams to finish with six wins and 10 losses in 2017, ending up ninth on the ladder.
“We are hoping to be more competitive this season and play a high standard of netball across the whole court – some new additions to our senior side will allow this to happen,” Lehmann said.
Lehmann said by adding a few new players to the squad, it has added more versatility and unpredictability to the list.
“Grace Wooster is coming back and we also have Mikala Rethus joining the side,” she said.
“By gaining these new girls it has allowed us to explore other movements within the team to find the best combinations.
“We have girls who can play shooting, defence and are great players at both ends. If we have that strong defence and offence and hopefully a speedy mid-court, we should be okay.
“We will definitely have a pretty strong side this year. It is promising.”
This will be Lehmann’s second year in a row as playing-coach of the A Grade side.
She said all the girls in the squad know their roles and are able to assist her in leading the team.
“They work for themselves, they are A Graders so the know what they are doing, and that helps out a lot,” she said.
“As a playing-coach, I expect that girls take on particular roles to assist me in making the best decisions. All girls in our side know their roles and most of the time it’s just that I want them to put in 110%.”
Pimpinio starts its season against Harrow-Balmoral away from home.
Q and A with Marnie Lehmann
What is your coaching style like on the court?
I try to be very vocal. As much as I’m in my own game I still try to push the girls forward the whole game through.
Who will be the team to beat this season?
Natimuk United was very strong towards the end of the season along with Laharum. We are hoping that this year we can compete with some of those top teams with our new-look side.
What has you most excited about this season?
I’m excited about our new players and being part of a strong-looking side is always exciting. I’m looking forward to what the season brings for us and seeing the girls mesh together and having such a versatile team.
