Emily McErvale and Hayley Hart have received this year’s Fox and Lillie Rural scholarship, which aim to provide students with financial assistance towards their tuition fees.
This is the second year the scholarships have been offered.
Fox and Lillie Rural’s managing director Jonathan Lillie said the decision to offer student scholarships at a tertiary level was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the industry.
“We want to encourage young people who are looking to fulfil a career in the agriculture industry, and in particular wool,” he said.
Longerenong College campus head John Goldsmith said the college had seen an increase in the number of students wanting to do vocational training in agriculture.
“The college is looking forward to another large intake of students wanting to pursue careers in wool, livestock, agronomy or business,” he said.
“We are pleased to have Fox and Lillie Rural involved in our scholarship program giving students an opportunity to have financial and industry placement support.”
Mr Lillie said the company was excited to support the next generation coming into agribusiness and the wool industries.
“Longerenong College and other agriculture universities are providing students with excellent training in the rural sector,” he said.
