“It is all going to be about putting the team first,” he said. “It will be all about the team and we aren’t going to relying on three or four blokes to do the work; it’s going to be on all 21 blokes that are picked every week.”
Bone has been impressed with the group’s commitment since returning to his home club from Queensland to take over the senior coach role.
He said there had been regularly been 30 players on the track with travelling players set to be thrown into the mix as well.
“The buy-in has been really good and I couldn’t be much happier,” he said. “We had a training camp and all the boys got to meet the new guys coming up from Melbourne and Adelaide.”
The club will need to cover the loss of 2017 Toohey Medalist Billy Hayes as well as big man Dan Batson and goal scoring option Callan Semple.
Bone is confident the new players such as Scott Hughes, Ben Jones and Jess Morano will help cover the losses.
“We think the young brigade of blokes that are on about 25 games are only going to keep getting better.”
Q and A with Tim Bone
How have you found things since returning to Nhill?
It's been really good, the support has been fantastic and there is plenty of enthusiasm about the club. Everyone around town has been talking football and where just keen for it to start.
Who has been tearing it up on the track so far?
Quite a few really and I don't really want to individualise. All the boys have been improving their fitness testing all the way through. The younger blokes have really been leading the way though.
What is your style going to be and how are you going to get wins on the board?
We'll be like most teams and want to move the ball pretty quickly at a high efficiency rate. At the end of the day its will come down to the opposition and who wins the ball first.
