TENNIS runs in the blood for Kate-Lyn Perkin and her father John Burford, and for the first time at the weekend they will be able to play a doubles set side-by-side.

The two have played in the same team before but never in the same set.
They have also helped give back to the tennis community, with Burford serving as the president of the Central Wimmera Tennis Association before passing the role onto his daughter last year.
They will line-up next to each other in pennant this week for Drung South, with Burford stepping up to the top grade. With no mixed doubles in pennant, Perkin will be playing as a man, meaning the two will take to the court together.
“We haven’t played in an actual set together,” Burford said. “This will probably be my last match in pennant. I’m too old but I won’t knock back this opportunity.”
Perkin said it would be a very special moment.
“It’s something that doesn’t happen very often. You see dads play with sons and mothers with daughters, but father and daughter doesn’t often happen,” she said. “As long as he runs we will be fine.”
