It will be a one off match in Ararat for Montagna with a family connection to the Rats helping form the agreement.
Club president David Jennings said it was an exciting prospect for the club.
“He will come up on the Wednesday prior and take training on Wednesday night then we will do a community dinner afterwards. We would expect every St Kilda supporter in the area to come along and have a squiz at the dual former All-Australian player.”
The club had been worked on the agreement since early in the year. Montagna played 287 games during a 16-season career for the Saints before hanging up the boots at the end of 2017.
The league’s marquee Good Friday fixture will also likely feature the debut of another former AFL footballer when Jack Anthony lines up for Stawell.
