Horsham, Warracknabeal, Halls Gap and Stawell were among the towns to host events at the weekend.
A large group of volunteers descended on the Grampians National Park in Halls Gap on Sunday to take part in the nationwide event.
Parks Victoria spokesman Connor Smith described the event as a success.
“We had great support from Friends of the Grampians Gariwerd and Cliff Care, as well as a number of walk up volunteers,” he said.
The cleanup took a multi-pronged approach, with the majority of volunteers on the ground, and members of ‘Cliff Care Victoria’ abseiling down Reeds and Boroka Lookout in order to access the hard to reach areas.
Halls Gap Primary School also pitched in on Friday, with 48 pupils collecting four kilograms of rubbish.
Fellow Parks Victoria spokeswoman Hannah Auld said she was pleased to see the amount of rubbish collected, but it was a sad reminder of the amount of litter in national parks.
