Alex Schulz and Ashleigh Morrison will co-coach both the A and B Grade netball sides. Schulz has played for the Storm before, while Morrison has recently joined the club from Nhill.
Schulz said the duo felt nervous about stepping up to the top job, but are keen to contribute to the club.
“We saw an opportunity to step up and help make a different at Storm,” she said.
This will be Schulz’s first coaching experience, while Morrison has previously coached junior netball at Nhill.
Despite not having coached before, Schulz said she felt well placed to take on the role.
“I have captained and managed teams for the past couple of years, so I have worked closely with coaches before,” Schulz said.
Schulz said one of the reasons the two coaches would look after both the A and B Grades would be to help keep an eye on junior development.
“We were keen to coach both grades to give us control over the rotations,” she said.
“We want to make sure that we develop juniors well, not only by bringing them into the A Grade but also giving them plenty of senior game time through B Grade.”
Jeparit-Rainbow had a tough season last year, finishing second last with one win for the year.
“We actually feel as though we are quite a skillful side,” Schulz said.
“We need to improve our fitness and hopefully subsequently reduce some of our second-half skill errors.”
