Council hosts meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
Council was due to meet on May 16, but chief executive Greg Wood proposed at a meeting on Wednesday that the date be changed to May 23.
He said this was due to councillors attending the Rural Councils Victoria Summit in Lakes Entrance from May 16 to 18.
He said the fact there were five Wednesdays in May this year meant there would still be at least two weeks between meetings, if councillors voted to go with the May 23 option.
Councillors unanimously supported the proposal.
They also voted to cancel their June 20 meeting because Mr Wood and mayor Ron Ismay will be at the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly in Canberra during that week.
Mr Wood said because there were only four Wednesdays in June, changing the date to a week earlier or later would mean two council meetings would run in consecutive weeks.
Council will run advertisements in papers within the shire to advise residents of the meeting changes.
