SPAA is holding a precision agriculture expo at Crystal Brook, offering all PA enthusiasts the opportunity to learn, share, connect and be inspired.

It follows on from the success of SPAA’s PA expos in Wallaroo and Nurioopta.

SPAA is offering farmers the opportunity to hear the latest developments in agricultural technology from the PA fraternity and learn from cutting-edge producers. 

Guest speakers include Nuffield scholars Jonathan Dyer, Kaniva, and Phil Longmire, Esperance, WA.

For Mr Dyer, data collection allows his family farming business to extract a quality premium for their grain. He will talk about how his interest in big data has led to him to use data and PA to help cut costs.

With Mr Longmire, his interest in variable rate technology started 15 years ago when he embarked on an international study tour to investigate the financial benefits. He will talk about his long-term journey in using a suite of PA technologies on his farm.

Also on the program is Cheryl McCarthy, from the University of Southern Qld, who will talk about the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in agriculture and how they can be used to monitor and surveillance cropping systems.

Michael Wells, from PCT-Ag, will use practical examples on how to manage data to make informed decisions, while Phillip Honey, from Environment and Cropping Technologies, will talk about new apps on the market.

The day also features local Mid North and YP farmers talking about their PA journeys, including Leigh Fuller discussing how he overcomes pH problems, Paul Jarret talking about his experience in controlled traffic farming and Brett Roberts and Todd Orrock speaking about their PA journey using VRT and other PA tools.

The expo is being held on Wednesday, March 21 at the Crystal Brook Football Club.

Registration open at 8.30am with presentations from 9am and concludes with PA Connections, a networking mixer, from 4.30pm.
