The top side for the whole season defeated Laharum in their semi-final clash at the weekend.
Central Park finished the regular season without loss – the only side in the top four Central Wimmera Tennis Association senior divisions to do so this season.
The side showed why it is favourite to claim the A Grade championship, defeating Laharum by eight sets and 92 games to four sets and 60 games.
Central Park’s Rod Shurdington and Deb Nitschke started on the front foot, defeating Reuben Launder and Lisa Sanders in the opening set of the day, 9-4. Laharum then won a set back, before Central Park won three in a row to set up a handy lead.
It was a lead the side did not relinquish for the entire day, as they earned a week off this weekend to prepare for a grand final on March 24. If Laharum is to feature in the grand final, the side will have to overcome St Michael’s this week, after the Saints thrashed Haven on its home courts.
Haven only managed to win one set for the day, coming at the start of the encounter with Bob and Rachel McQueen defeating Brendan Martin and Courtney Clough 9-2. St Michael’s won all the other sets, winning comfortable by 11 sets and 101 games to Haven’s one set and 57 games.
St Michael’s will be full of confidence and hopeful of stealing a grand final appearance when it comes up against Laharum at the weekend in their preliminary final encounter.
