THERE were tight tussles across both the junior section one open and section one girls competitions of the Central Wimmera Tennis Association as finals action kicked off.

Teams competed in the semi-finals on Saturday, looking to keep their seasons alive.
In section one girls, there were mixed results for the two Natimuk sides.
Natimuk Blue finished the regular season on top and played second-placed Horsham Lawn for a direct spot in the grand final.
Natimuk Blue went down by just one game in a thrilling contest.
Holly Smith and Bethany Sudholz started off Natimuk’s day well with a 6-3 doubles set win against Tahlia Thompson and Jaye Farlow.
Sudholz also teamed up with Macey Maybery for a 6-3 win against Farlow and Briodi Cook.
Cook and Thompson ensured Lawn won one doubles set, as they defeated Maybery and Smith 6-4.
The contest was tight heading into the singles sets, with Horsham Lawn taking two out of the three singles sets to even the contest at three sets each.
Lawn’s Thompson defeated Smith 6-2, before Natimuk’s Sudholz claimed a 6-4 win against Farlow.
Lawn’s Cook defeated Maybery 6-3 in the final singles set, to hand Lawn the slightest of wins, 3-28 to 3-27.
Lawn go straight through to the grand final in two weeks, with Natimuk Blue heading into a preliminary final against its club rivals Natimuk Gold.
Gold won its semi-final clash at the weekend against Haven Purple, in what was also a close encounter.
Gold’s side of Alisha Matheson, Kyra Clarke and Brooklyn Fraser all won their singles sets to help set up a 4-29 to 2-26 win.
Haven Purple competed well, with Abby Hallam, Lily Wynne and Caitlin Hobbs pushing Gold right to the end. The loss ends a positive season for Haven Purple, who finished the season in fourth.
In section one open, the two Haven sides faced off in a semi-final for a place in the grand final.
Haven Black finished the season on top, and progressed to the decider with a 4-27 to 2-20 win against Haven Green.
Josh Freeman, Lauren Bond and Kyah Wilkinson all won at least one set each, with the side winning two doubles sets and two singles sets to set up the win.
For Haven Green, Hettie French performed well, winning her singles set 6-0 against Lauren Bond.
In the other semi-final, Central Park Blue came up against Central Park White in an elimination semi-final.
White’s season came to an end as it went down 4-31 to 2-25.
White performed well in the doubles to take two sets and set up a slender lead before the singles sets took place.
However, Blue turned up the heat in the singles, winning all three singles sets.
Blue’s Jordan Friberg, Logan Casey and Zac Duffy all won their singles sets to help Blue progress to the preliminary final against Haven Green.
