A modular pump track for the playground and leisure area on Barnes Boulevard hoped to offer a new experience for its users.
The pump track is a BMX circuit of banked turns and humps where riders create momentum through up-and-down body movements.
Horsham Apex Club publicity officer Philipp Missbach said he hoped the pump track would enhance the existing facilities in the area. He said the new and innovative addition will fulfill the club’s desire to offer inclusive equipment.
“It was important for us that there was playground equipment for everyone – not just young children and families,” he said.
“Whoever is keen can use the track, just as long as they use their wheels. Whether that be bikes, scooters or a skateboard – whatever they are confident on and age does not matter.”
He said the pump track also offered a fun way to get active.
“It will encourage people to get outside, be active and have fun while providing health and wellbeing benefits for our community,” he said.
The track’s construction was the first stage of an upgrade to adventure island. The entire project is expected to be completed by May.
The project includes access paths, seating, shade and an activity area on the eastern end of the island.
