This year, a team of lady bowlers from Horsham East Probus took part in the annual Men's Probus bowls tournament held in Horsham, Tuesday March 6, and was a first for us.
At the annual meeting, member Ruth Walter took the chair for the election of office bearers, which resulted as follows:
Pauline Thomson is the new Vice President, with Nola Bellinger : secretary assisted by Denise Hobson, Treasurer: Trish Reinheimer, assistant: Di Walter, Membership: Dawn Reading, assistant Lorna Rensch, Magazines : Margaret Schreck, Trips organisers : Ruth Walter, Marion Seater and Cheryle Bell, club service: Diane Ballinger, Denise Hobson: Guest Speakers, welfare : Mary McKenry, Newsletter editor: Raelene Pfeiffer and Publicity: Rene Vivian. Gift buying ladies: May Glover and Therese Wright.
Ruth also called for a show of applause for retiring office bearers, and immediate past president, Margaret Woodford was presented with flowers, past president's badge and certificate of appreciation by newly-elected president, Joan Parker.
Margaret then gave a very informative report of the past year's activities, showing a very busy and eventful time for the club.
An Information Day at Murtoa, on April 18 will be attended by members from our club, including some newer members, and it’s always a very instructive day.
Trips planned include one on Wednesday 28th for Nhill, visiting places of interest including ‘West Print Maps’ which includes an extensive range of books to peruse and buy, a bring-your-own picnic lunch to eat in the park before going on to ‘Paw Po’, the workshop of the Karen women in the Nhill community.
Their manager and mentor, Alison will speak to us, explaining the function and purpose of the workshop.
There will be free time to go across to the art gallery or shop before returning home.
