Red Cross youth and community development officer Jesse Hinch said the woodturners built the toys, which they donate to the Red Cross every year to then give to refugee families.
“There is a fair bit of work that goes on with it,” he said.
“We just received a fresh batch of toys from the guild and there a lot of different types.
“We’ve taken six boxes.
“There are trains, engagement games, tractors, trucks, ponies.
“They come in all shapes and sizes too, some are A4 size and others are more than a metre long.”
Mr Hinch said this project gave the woodturners something to build for the community.
“We are trying to distribute the toys to the Wimmera’s migrant community,” he said.
Mr Hinch said people appreciated the wooden toys being donated.
“The woodturners do the work off their own back, they create the toys throughout the year and do a drop off to Red Cross where we distribute them through the Migrant Support Program,” he said.
Mr Hinch said if people would like to get involved with the the woodturners, they met at the showgrounds at 1pm every Tuesday.
He said people can call 5384 7436 for more information.
