Curran will captain alongside Andrew Bradley.
He said it was an honour to lead a club with such a long history.
“There are a lot of other gun players in the side at the moment so to lead them out will be a bit of a strange feeling,” he said.
Curran is entering his eighth year with the club after he moved to Adelaide following time with the Rebels.
“The side is looking pretty good,” he said.
“We’ve had another year and another pre-season to develop.
Then you add in Marlon Motlop from North Adelaide and Jesse White from Collingwood who add a lot of experience.”
Curran said he learnt a lot from the success the Demons had during his time as a junior.
“The sporting culture in Horsham meant I played every sport under the sun,” he said.
“I was lucky enough to be part of a very successful junior and senior program at the Demons.
“There were a lot of good players who acted as my mentors for me from a young age.”
The 27-year-old missed the 2014 season because of foot surgery and he managed only four games in 2016 before tearing a hamstring tendon.
In 2017 he managed to play in all of the side’s 18 games on the way to finishing seventh on the ladder.
“I’ve come along way because of the players and coaches that I’ve been with at Glenelg,” he said.
“To be at a place now where the club has also recognised the growth in my leadership is great.”
The side will open its season against South Adelaide on Good Friday.
